My Background

My Background

I grew up in a rough section of the Bronx,  during  the  80s.  I  can’t  believe  that  40+  years  have  passed.    We had   Colorful  Paper Food  Stamps  That  Made  It  Feel  Like  Christmas  Once  A  Month, Rats, Roaches, Tempo,  Domestic Violence,  Abandoned Buildings ,  Mass  Killings  From  Either  Turf  Wars   Or  Car  Accidents,  Kids  Falling  Out  Of  Fifth  Floor  Windows, Drive  By  Shootings,  Drug  Dealers  That  Bought  Ice  Cream  When   Mr.  Softee  Came  By  For  The  Neighborhood  Kids  Or  Gave  Us  Money  For  Good  Report  Cards,    Open  Fire  Hydrants  On  Full  Blast  To  Cool  Off  During  The  Summer,  Mandatory  School  Meals  Or  You  Didn’t  Eat,  Cassette  Tapes ,  BCW and a Crack/Cocaine Pandemic in the Inner  City Neighborhoods…Yet,  The  South  Bronx  was  my  Playground.    There was NO:  Internet, Cable  TV,  Cell  Phones,  Computers  Or  Flat  Screen  TVS.  I  had  to  fight  often  because   I  was  bullied  as  a  kid . Where you start doesn’t matter…making good decisions and  putting  in  the  work  to improve your situation is key!

Who I Am

My Background

My Background

I  graduated  with  top  honors  from  Monroe  College  while  raising  3  young  kids,  working  full  time  and  attending  full  time  night  and  weekend  classes.    Through  hard  work  and  sacrifices,  in   2009,   I  became  a  first  time  home  owner and was  fortunate  enough  to  raise  my  kids  in  a  secured  Waterfront Community in the Bronx. I   have  a  successful  career in  Real  Estate  spanning  almost  3  decades.    I‘m  currently  working at  one  of  the  most  prestigious  Management  Companies  in  New  York  City.   I am fluent in Ebonics, English and Spanish, and speak all 3 daily  depending  on  who  I  am  communicating  with...  I  love all  things  Comic … Don’t  ask  me  if  I  favor  DC  over  Marvel…the  answer  is,  I  have  no  favorites.   My  fur  babies  are  my  favorite  kids...TRUE  STORY!  Music  helped  me  navigate  through  life.  Because of my humble beginnings, I am book  smart  and  street  smart  and  able to relate  to  different  people and have empathy.   As a Black Afro Latina, I’ve  Experienced  Racism  almost every day of  my life  and have developed a thick skin. When  Trump  Took  Office  All  Of  The  Racists  Got  Bold  Again  Especially  In  The  Business  Environment.  They  were  for  a  time  being  discreet  during  Obama’s  Presidency…Nothing surprises me anymore!

My Goal

My Background

My Goal

I wish that I had someone to refer to,  or someone  that could relate to what I was experiencing …but I didn’t.   When  life  started  to  feel  unbearable,  I  sought  out  Mental  Health  Specialists  and  had  to  be  medicated  to  help  me  cope.     I  want  to  share my life stories so that others can understand that they are not alone and YES sometimes, it is very hard to get through things.   Life  throws  many  curve  balls  and  there  is  no  shame  in  admitting  that  you  need  help  or  guidance.    At  the  end  of  the  day,  understand  that  everything  does  happen  for  a  reason  and  every  experience  is  a  lesson  to   prepare  you  for  the  next  chapter.  It’s  important to deal  with  each  obstacle  or  situation  in  a  manner  that  will  yield  the  best  results.  Think  before  you  Act!    I’m  not  sure  of  where  Life  is  going  to  lead  me  but  so  far,  this  new  chapter  is  pretty  AWESOME!  My  new  journey  as  a   seasoned  woman  is  pretty  interesting  &  exciting!  I  never  thought  that  I  would  find  peace  and  love  after  so  much  hurt,  pain  and  chaos.  I  have  a  very  Colorful  and Spicy  Life ,   Thank  God!

Warning:    This  is  Real  Talk!     If  you  are  easily  offended,  this  blog  is  not  for  you.    Word!     If  you  are  under  the  age  of  18,  this  blog  is  not  for  you  but  tell  your  parents  about  it!    LOL
